Getting There
When in Cebu, head to Lapu-Lapu where usual pick-up-drop-off points for Pandanon Island are based. There are motorized bancas for rent in Punta EngaƱo (near Hilton Hotel). And there are many travel agencies that provide island hopping trips around Mactan. Another option would be at Kamolinas in Cordova. Cordova by the way is part of Cebu although the island is so much nearer to Mactan Island. If on a tight budget, pump boats owned by fishermen in the area can be rented. Hopping around the islands near Cordova including Olango Island (part of Lapu-Lapu) and Pandanon will cost about Php2, 500.00-3,500.00. Mind you, these bancas are small. Only 25 people can be accommodated and chances are there won't be any life vests. Bigger pump boats costs about Php6,000.00-8,000.00. These ones can carry 40 people and are much safer for children. From Cordova, the trip to Pandanon takes about an hour. That is when the waves in Hilutungan Channel are normal. Two marine sanctuaries are protected in this area: Hilutungan and Nalusuan. In Nalusuan, a close encounter with the fishes is allowed. The fee is 25-50 pesos. In Pandanon, entrance fee is Php100.00 per head.
